Have you heard the news? About Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra? They’re like, so in love, you guys.
Oh what’s that? You have heard? Really, that’s no surprise, since the 26-year-old and his 36-year-old bride have been flaunting their relationship at every turn, from their three (highly publicized) wedding receptions, to their constant Instagram PDA, to every paparazzi-tailed event in between.
But there might be something to that over-the-top love style of theirs, and it goes beyond just their traditional sun signs (Nick is a Virgo and Priyanka is a Cancer).
For InStyle’s weekly astrological compatibility column, The Fault In Our Stars’ Stars, we teamed up with Courtney Perkins of the freakishly accurate (and hilarious) @notallgeminis astrological Instagram account to break down why Nick and Priyanka can’t seem to get enough of each other (or the spotlight).

The couple:
After catching his big break as a pre-teen with his big bros in The Jonas Brothers, the youngest of the trio struck out for solo gold in 2014. He’s parlayed his post-boyband fame into a number of other projects, including a judging gig for the Miss USA pageant (where he met ex Olivia Culpo) as well as some acting jobs, including roles in Jumanji as well as the Ryan Murphy-produced dramedy Scream Queens.
Though she’s only been a household name in the U.S. since 2015, when she began starring as the lead in the ABC drama Quantico, Chopra has been in the entertainment biz for more than a decade. The actress stepped into the spotlight as Miss World in 2000, and has since appeared in more than 50 Bollywood productions. Most recently, she’s picked up stateside movie credits, including a role in 2017’s Baywatch and the upcoming Isn’t It Romantic, which hits theaters in February of next year. When she’s not busy with her on-screen roles, she’s running Purple Pebble Productions, which develops movies across India’s regional film industries. Oh, and she’s a tech investor with a YouTube series in the works. I think that covers it?
Her sign:
Cancer: According to Compatible Astrology, Cancers are known for their sentimentality and sensitivity, leading them to be “champions of their loved ones. They will fiercely protect and defend their lovers.”
And, “when handled with care and respect they blossom, giving devotion and loyalty for life.”
His sign:
Virgo: “Virgos are often slow to fall in love,” reads a description by Compatible Astrology that seems to contradict what we know about Jonas’ lightning-fast relationship. “Conservative by nature … They appreciate a direct and tactful lover, prizing honesty and openness over outwardly outlandish flirting styles.”
From what we’ve heard about their courtship, it would check out that Priyanka’s direct communication style — in response to his outlandish gestures — may have won his heart.
The relationship:
Though they’ve only been official for less than a year, the publicity of their love is on another level. From sweet Instagrams in which they gush over each other, to not one, not two but three wedding receptions (calm down, there were only two wedding ceremonies), this couple just couldn’t keep quiet about their obsession with one another.

According to their Vogue cover story, the romance all began when Nick slid into Priyanka’s DMs — but she quickly gave him a reality check, letting him know that her team could read her messages and that Jonas should move their conversation elsewhere.

But the game of cat-and-mouse didn’t end there. When they finally met in person after some texting flirtation, Jonas got down on one knee — not to propose marriage, but to declare, “‘You’re real. Where have you been all my life?’”
Their first date, in 2016, was a bit on the PG side (Jonas said goodbye to his now-wife with a pat on the back), and it wasn’t until a year later that they saw each other again at the Met Ball, where they were guests of designer Ralph Lauren. But things moved quickly from then on, and Nick proposed in July in Crete on the day after her birthday. The rest, of course, is history.
If there’s one anecdote that best sums up Jonas’s uber-romantic, over-the-top love for his new wife, it’s this: During their traditional Indian ceremony, they walked around a fire together seven times to symbolize the seven lives they’ll spend together. However, Jonas told Vogue that he believes they’re already on their third or fourth as a couple. But regardless, “I’ll take seven more,” he said. *Wipes tear.*
The compatibility breakdown:
Perkins’s careful reading of their compatibility goes beyond just their sun signs. “Their Venus signs are also a great match,” she explains. “Your Venus sign indicates how you love and want to be loved, so it’s a good place to check if you’ll be romantically compatible.”
“Priyanka’s Venus sign is in the air sign Gemini, which means that she connects over the mind, humor, and conversation, and needs social stimulation,” adds Perkins. We’d guess that the never-ending slew of wedding activities counts as “social stimulation,” no?
“Nick’s Venus sign is in Libra, another air sign that tends to be attracted to fun, exciting partners. Libra is the sign of the fair diplomat, always willing to hear both sides, so they appreciate the Gemini energy of discussion.”
All in all: Their romance was a little unconventional, sure, but they’re both drawn to each other’s passion for conversation, excitement. Let us be the first to say they nailed that whole “excitement” part.
