At the beginning of October 2009, the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre will be the hub of the Asian fashion industry. Interstoff Asia Essential Autumn will host a textile trading platform for retailers presenting functional fabrics and eco textiles. Set against the backdrop of economic uncertainty, designers and garment makers are turning their attention to distinctive textiles that are developed with sophisticated design and advanced technology.
Nearly 200 exhibitors will take part in the autumn fair, with confirmation of brands such as China based Mozartex Co Ltd showcasing Tencel woven fabrics; Tawainese Everest Textile Co., Ltd, a Bluesign certified manufacturer displaying outdoor fabrics and Hong Kong based Wellen Textile featuring their latest fabric designs.
Interstoff Asia Essential has developed into a specialised textile trade event that features a wide range of fashion, eco-friendly and well-designed fabrics. Set in Hong Kong, which is accountable for 80% of Asia’s textile exports, the city provides a great business platform for both local and overseas textile manufacturers and merchandisers. Eight out of ten textile exports from Hong Kong are in Asia. In order of export percentage these include China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, the US, Thailand, Philippines and Jordon.
Interstoff Asia Essential Autumn organised by Messe Frankfurt will take place from 7-9th October 2009. Messe Frankfurt is Germany’s largest trade fair organiser, with 436 million euros in sales in November 2008 and more than 1,400 employees worldwide. The company is publicly owned, with the City of Frankfurt holding 60 percent and the State of Hesse 40 percent.
