The Keele University scientists have discovered a new planet ‘Hot Jupiter’ which is so dark that it absorbs nearly 97 to 99 percent of the light falls on it which makes it darker than charcoal. It’s one of the darkest planets ever discovered and the scientists have discovered it using NASA’s Kelper telescope.
“When analysing the highly precise photometric data from Kepler, we were surprised not to see reflected starlight from WASP-104b,” said Teo Mocnik from Keeles Astrophysics Group, who led the research.Mocnic says that it’s one of the top three darkest planets he knows about from documentation. The darkest planet discovered till now was the exoplanet TrES2B or Kepler-1b
