A.J. Styles announced on Twitter today that he has renewed his contract with WWE. He also announced in the same Tweet he has a new puppy!

Styles certainly would have been major signing by AEW. Having AEW as a likely legitimate option may have given him additional leverage for pay and schedule as he wrestles deeper into his 40s.

Styles, 41, joined WWE in January 2016 after a stint with New Japan. He spent a dozen of his prime years in TNA Impact Wrestling, bookended by ROH.

He is widely considered one of the top all-around in-ring workers of the past 20 years. Although the length of the contract hasn’t been released, it’s likely this WWE contract means the rest of his full time main eventing days will be with WWE.

This is the newest member of my family. Also, I’ve signed a new contract with the WWE. What a cute little guy. pic.twitter.com/PNqh9shgTH
