“We had problems in the preparation. But there is no time for excuses,” said head coach of Brazilian team Bernardo Rezende.
The coach said the players are in “good shape”, although he said he does not know whether this factor is sufficient to repeat the feat in 2004 in Athens, when Brazil won the gold medal.
“We have a great opportunity, I hope we can show more than shown in the World League. We have a very experienced group that knows that this is a very important moment,” he said.
During practice in London, Giba suffered a right thigh strain, which made his presence in the Games unknown. However, Giba said he is ready to compete “at the highest level.” Giba also said he believes that it is not yet time to think about retirement.
