Colt Cabana has signed with AEW, appearing on tonight’s pre-show.
He appeared during the Buy-In pre show, coming to the aid of SCU following their loss to the Dark Order. Cabana came out for the save, but was overpowered by Evil Uno, Stu Grayson, Alex Reynolds, John Silver and two other masked people.
Christopher Daniels, who was told earlier by Scorpio Sky to stay backstage, then came out. He was dressed under a robe and it appeared as if he was The Exalted One that has been mentioned by the Dark Order in recent weeks. However, he took off the robe and came to the aid of SCU and Cabana, driving the Dark Order away.
During a scrum interview following the event, AEW President Tony Khan confirmed that Cabana had signed with the company. Cabana will be able to work for other promotions with Khan’s approval.
Cabana previously appeared on AEW Dark back in December to do commentary. His contract with Ring of Honor had expired earlier in the month.
Since then, Cabana has appeared for the National Wrestling Alliance as well as New Japan Pro Wrestling, where he usually teams with Toru Yano. He was due to take part in this year’s New Japan Cup, but with a string of cancellations taking place due to the coronavirus outbreak in Japan, the status of the tournament is currently up in the air.
