Modena celebrates victory over Trentino. "We did a good job of taking it all in against a team definitely stronger than us," said head coach of Modena Silvano Prandi after the game.

TRENKWALDER MODENA – ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO 3:2
At the end of a great show of two hours and a half, Modena came out on top against the Cup winners Trentino. This exciting and intense game had the 4000 crowd going crazy. Trento faltered on the serve while Modena performed with consistency and won the first set. The hosts were in control in the second too, until 16-13 that is. Then, Juantorena and Kaziyski took charge to bring Trento level. Setter Esko and outside hitter Dennis combined spectacularly in the third, Kooistra hit the serve hard while Trento lost its way. Once again, Juantorena and Kaziyski helped the guests to tie it, though, as Sokolov was on for Vissotto. In the tie-break, Modena rocketed away (5-1), Trento managed to get back within one (12-11) but Dennis again (28 points) made the difference and Casoli scored the point that sent the crowd on fire. Dennis MVP.

Silvano Prandi (Trenkwalder Modena): “It’s a nice victory. Numbers between us and them are rather similar. This means we did a good job of taking it all in against a team definitely stronger than us. Now we have to focus immediately on Saturday’s game and Piacenza”.

MARMI LANZA VERONA – COPRATLANTIDE PIACENZA 3:1
This was a top level and extremely exciting game. Led by MVP Lasko, Verona grabbed three crucial points to qualify for the playoffs. Kromm and Howard registered 5 blocks each as Verona tallied 18 overall.

Michal Lasko (Marmi Lanza Verona): “We have really played top level volleyball, Verona is definitely going through a good moment of form. We are very happy with tonight’s result. We are defending our 8th position and are happy to do so with our amazing fans”.

ANDREOLI LATINA – LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA 1:3
Latina came away from the Pala Bianchini head high, but Macerata is the one that celebrates the three points. Latina’s situation remains unchanged as Loreto, Forli and Pineto lost in three sets.

ARAN CUCINE ABRUZZO PINETO – SISLEY TREVISO 0:3
Things went as expected in Roseto, where Treviso won in straight sets over Pineto. Still, the hosts made it difficult for Treviso in the first two sets. MVP: Robert Horstink.

YOGA FORLI – ACQUA PARADISO MONZA 0:3
Thanks to the results of the other games, the league table did not change but the way Forli was defeated did hurt. Forli paid the price for the off day that had its outside hitters Carroll and Casadei.

ESSE-TI CARILO LORETO – RPA-LUIGIBACCHI.IT PERUGIA 0:3
Perugia eased up to a 3-0 victory in just over an hour of play. All three sets were one-way traffic with Stokr MVP and Savani doing well too.

PRISMA TARANTO – TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA 3:2
Difficult to find the key to a game that has been marked by a huge number of mistakes. Taranto went 2-0 up but was pegged back to 2-2. In the end, the team that made less mistakes won it: Taranto (25-32). This was the third longest game in the A1 since the Rally System Point was introduced. Behind, there is Piacenza versus Macerata, game 2 of the playoff 2009 (2’27) and Roma vs Taranto in 2006 (2’26). The record goes to Massa versus Bassano played this season in the A2 with 2’30.
