A number one contender’s match will be taking place on this week’s episode of Dynamite.
AEW has announced that Darby Allin will face Jimmy Havoc on Dynamite this Wednesday. The winner will advance to challenge for Chris Jericho’s AEW World Championship next week (Wednesday, October 16).
Next week’s Dynamite is taking place at The Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was announced in August that the AEW World and Women’s titles would be defended on the show.
Jericho is schedule to defend his title against Cody Rhodes at AEW’s Full Gear pay-per-view on Saturday, November 9.
Cody responded to a tweet that asked why Allin and Havoc are the wrestlers in the number one contender’s match: “Quality of wins plays a factor. Not unlike college football. Jimmy beat 2 other major players in the @CrackerBarrel Clash and… Darby went the distance with me and defeated a legend in Cima. (That match to be featured on ‘AEW: DARK’ this Tuesday. Hosted by @tonyschiavone24)”
The Agganis Arena in Boston, Massachusetts is hosting Dynamite this Wednesday. Here’s the updated lineup for the show:
Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara vs. Hangman Page & Dustin Rhodes
Darby Allin vs. Jimmy Havoc (winner challenges for Jericho’s AEW World title on next week’s episode of Dynamite)
The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) vs. Private Party (Marq Quen & Isiah Kassidy) in an AEW Tag Team title tournament first-round match
Jon Moxley vs. Shawn Spears
