SmackDown competitor Harper had been having a tremendous couple of months for himself in WWE ever since he and Rowan were both repackaged as The Bludgeon Brothers. The duo were able to win the SmackDown Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania 34 earlier this year, and they defended the titles for months before only recently dropping them to The New Day. Not long after Rowan went down with a bicep injury, Harper made a surprise appearance at an NXT live event and lost to North American Champion Ricochet. According to Wrestling Observer Live, WWE will likely continue to have Harper wrestle for more NXT shows in the near future. This could be WWE’s plan for Harper until Rowan is ready to return from his injury.
Brock Lesnar is currently on hiatus from WWE in order to focus on his MMA comeback and future fight against Daniel Cormier in UFC. However, this means that Paul Heyman is currently left with no advocate, but various rumors have claimed that WWE does intend on keeping Heyman busy while Lesnar is away. In an update provided by the latest edition of Barn Burner’s Fired Up podcast, WWE is still considering the idea of possibly having Heyman manage a stable of wrestlers at some point in the future. Two competitors who were named as likely members of the group were Kevin Owens and Ronda Rousey, but a number of other WWE Superstars are also said to be in consideration right now as well.
Longtime WWE Superstar R-Truth spent months on the shelf with an injury, but he returned to the ring on the SmackDown brand earlier this year. R-Truth has been experiencing a great deal of success this week as he was named as Carmella’s tag team partner for the upcoming season of the Mixed Match Challenge, and he got a win over The Miz on SmackDown this week in the main event. Truth recently caught the attention of Zelina Vega, the business manager for Andrade “Cien” Almas, and she seemed to indicate in a tweet posted online that there may be a feud between Almas and R-Truth on the way soon. Expect to see more on this developing rivalry involving the former champions on SmackDown this Tuesday night.
