Emma was released from WWE last week, and it appears as though she will continue to wrestle on the independent circuit after her 90-day no-compete clause with the company has been fulfilled. Numerous incidents are reported to have led to Emma’s release from WWE, including the creative staff being against her for venting her frustrations over the push of her character online. James McKenna, a former writer for WWE, noted on Pro Wrestling Sheet’s Wrestling Sheet Radio podcast that Emma would frequently shoot ideas down during meetings. Emma’s refusal to commit to the Emmalina character, which led to the failure of the character, is said to have greatly hurt her standing in the company.
Stone Cold Steve Austin was once the biggest star in all of professional wrestling, and though his days in the ring are over, he still watches the current product. While doing an interview for Ring Rust Radio, Austin was asked who his favorite wrestlers in the business are today. He revealed that AJ Styles, Brock Lesnar, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Finn Balor are all wrestlers that he goes out of his way to see whenever possible. Austin stated on the show: “Brock Lesnar is an absolute beast. I enjoy watching him and seeing what AJ Styles is up to next. Waiting to see if Finn Balor will continue to find his way. Waiting to see what they will end up doing with Shinsuke Nakamura and give him a green light push with that great background he brings from New Japan Pro Wrestling.” Though he has not appeared on television in a while, Austin admits that he tries to watch as much WWE content as he can because he is still involved in the business.
Earlier this year, Jim Ross released his first autobiography, which is named Slobberknocker: My Life in Wrestling. The book has received a tremendous reception from fans, which should come as no surprise due to the amount of stories that Jim Ross has about the business. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that there is so much interest in the book that there are currently some light talks about possibly adapting the autobiography into a feature film. Multiple producers are said to be interested in adapting Ross’ story, so perhaps a biopic based on one of wrestling’s most beloved announcers will be shown on the silver screen soon.
