It was confirmed several months ago that WWE and The Rock had teamed up to create Fighting With my Family, a biopic film based on the life of WWE superstar Paige. Footage featuring Paige (portrayed by Florence Pugh) defeating AJ Lee (portrayed by NXT’s Zelina Vega) for the Diva’s Championship was filmed a while back in front of a real WWE crowd. Pro Wrestling Sheet discussed some reactions to early screenings of the film. The film has been praised for the acting and emotional ending, but was described as “paint-by-numbers and could’ve been pieced together from press releases and IMDB.” The movie is set to be released in 2018, but the release date is unknown.
Charlotte Flair was one of the biggest stars on Raw last year, but her success hasn’t translated so well since coming over to Smackdown. Most fans figured that she would’ve held the Smackdown Women’s Championship by now, but she hasn’t appeared on television for a while. Cageside Seats now has provided an update on Charlotte’s status. Charlotte has been taking time off to help her father Ric Flair recover from his recent health scare. She is also going to be promoting her book very soon, but it is unclear if this will cause her to miss more television time. It has also been suggested that creative simply has no plans for her, and they do not plan on putting her in the title picture for a while.
Shayna Baszler came into the Mae Young Classic without much experience in professional wrestling, but she found a way to make it all the way to the final match of the tournament. She was defeated by Kairi Sane, but she managed to impress fans in the match. Baszler revealed that she was backstage at last night’s NXT television tapings, and she even took photos with fans who spotted her. Despite the fact that she attended yesterday’s tapings, and even though she has not taken on anymore independent bookings, she has still not signed with WWE. The former UFC fighter could very well be joining the company permanently in just a matter of time.
