WWE has revealed how the next NXT Champion will be decided.

After Karrion Kross had to relinquish the NXT Championship due to injury, William Regal announced tonight that a four-way 60-minute Iron Man match on next Tuesday’s episode of NXT will decide the new champion. Johnny Gargano, Tommaso Ciampa, Finn Balor, and Adam Cole will be the four wrestlers vying for the title.

Regal said Gargano, Ciampa, Balor, and Cole were chosen because they’re all former NXT Champions.

Ciampa returned to NXT television tonight and quickly defeated Jake Atlas. He destroyed Atlas after the match, including giving Atlas a DDT on the floor after Atlas had been put on a stretcher. This was Ciampa’s first appearance since the aftermath of his loss to Kross at TakeOver: In Your House this June.

Balor and Cole both got wins at TakeOver XXX, defeating Timothy Thatcher and Pat McAfee in their respective matches. Gargano was part of the ladder match for the North American Championship that was won by Damian Priest.

Kross won the NXT Championship from Keith Lee in the main event of TakeOver XXX but suffered a separated shoulder during the match.

Due to a conflict with the NHL playoffs, next week’s NXT will air on Tuesday (September 1) instead of Wednesday. It’s being called the Super Tuesday edition of the show.
