WWE.com has reported the following, covering former WCW Champion David Arquette’s announcement that he is returning to wrestling as The Magic Man. You can watch Arquette announcing his wrestling return in the video player above.
Former WCW Champion David Arquette made a major announcement on “The Wendy Williams Show,” revealing that he is planning to make his return to the squared circle as David “Magic Man” Arquette.
“For 18 years, I’ve been trolled on the internet,” Arquette told Williams. “And I just want to bring some respect back to my name!”
Arquette’s shocking — and infamous — WCW Title reign began on April 26, 2000, on WCW Thunder. The actor teamed up with Diamond Dallas Page against Eric Bischoff and Jeff Jarrett in a bout stipulating that whomever scored the pinfall would become WCW Champion. Arquette pinned Bischoff to win Page’s title and was presented with the same championship held by the likes of Sting, Ric Flair and Goldberg.
It remains to be seen if Arquette’s return will bring him back to WWE to prove the naysayers wrong and show that history should look fondly upon his WCW Title reign.
