Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s new movie “Rampage”, a big screen adaptation of the classic video game, took the number one spot at the box office this weekend and totaled nearly $150 million worldwide.

According to Deadline.com, the New Line/Warner Bros release topped the reigning number one movie at the box office “A Quiet Place”, and brought in a domestic total of $34.5 million. “Rampage” took in $11.55 million on Friday, $13.9 million on Saturday, and $9 million on Sunday.

The Rock commented on the successful opening with the following Tweet:

With regards to reception of the movie, the critical response remains mixed, with the movie earning a 50% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes. The film is faring better with moviegoers, however, as the audience score is currently at 80%.
