WE’VE SEEN GLIMPSES of Joe Schmidt in action as a player, but today we stumbled on this piece of archive gold from France’s tour of New Zealand in 1989.

Playing on the left wing for Manawatu, Joe Schmidt was clearly a favoured tactical ploy for the north island region on the day. Before scoring this second half kick-chase try, he had already gone incredible close to converting a similar effort in the first half.
