Presnel Kimpembe is headed back to training after several months on the sidelines due to injury. The PSG academy product injured his Achilles tendon on November 14 against Brest which not only kept him out of the lineup with his club but out of the World Cup.

Outside of the defender, head coach Christophe Galtier may be the most relieved to see his centre-back’s return. PSG did not bring in a defender in the transfer window and currently rely on 36-year-old Sergio Ramos, who has been prone to injury over the last few seasons. There is no timetable for his return to play, but if the 27-year-old defender is able to get back into shape it is possible that he could be available for the Champions League clash against Bayern on February 14th.

Kimpembe has been working with PSG to extend his contract. However, he has also been linked to several clubs abroad, if the two parties are unable to come to an agreement. The defender getting back on the field and in good form is important for not only his negotiations but in the event he needs to find a new club.
