Speaking exclusively to Get French Football News in the latest episode of the Presidents Podcast, ex-OGC Nice President Gauthier Ganaye sought to explain the club’s inactivity in terms of transfer window incomings in the summer of 2019, as the club was in the process of being acquired by INEOS.

“Obviously I can’t go into details on that, but yeah we had worked on a lot of recruitment. It was not that we couldn’t spend the money but we needed the buyer and the seller to agree on pushing the button on a deal, so it was hard for this reason. Gilles (Grimandi) and I stayed really professional for this reason, and we lined up everything for it to be ready, we knew that the new team would not have a lot of time to sanction deals before the end of the transfer windows, so we were focused on lining everything up for them. I think we had done a good job on that. I think of Kasper Dolberg for example.”
