23-year-old Dutch attacker Anwar El Ghazi is edging ever-closer to the Lille exit door, with manager Christophe Galtier deciding that 9 players for 4 attacking positions in his squad is too many, according to L’Équipe.
Under French football financial watchdog DNCG regulations, Lille must raise a further €28m in player sales before the end of August, with El Ghazi close to a move to Aston Villa in a loan with option to buy deal.
Talks began yesterday and could be concluded today. The deal would allow Lille to rid of the player’s wages and, the hope, is that the DNCG will allow them to ratify one of the three players’ contracts that have currently signed for Lille but are unable to play: Loïc Rémy, Jérémy Pied or Rafael Leao.
