Rennes have submitted a 3-year contract proposal to Wahbi Khazri and will wait to hear back from the Tunisian international before opening negotiations with Sunderland, according to L’Équipe.

Khazri is inclined to delay giving an answer, having enjoyed a productive loan spell with SRFC this summer, wanting to see if a Champions’ League side might come out of the woodwork instead.
In the meantime, he is hoping to work on an exit agreement with the Black Cats, recently relegated to the English 3rd division, that might see him leave for nothing.
His team’s argument to Sunderland is that they would be crippled by the salary that his current contract requires them to pay.
If a move for Khazri fails, then Rennes will make a move for 22-year-old Reims attacker Jordan Siebatcheu, according to the paper.
