Gameiro moves to the capital after a period of intense speculation linking him to Diego Simeone’s men, with Barcelona also heavily interested in the 29-year-old.

The former PSG striker has cost Atletico in the region of €36m to €41m, depending on reports across Spain. Marca believe that Sevilla have received €32m upfront with an extra €4m in variables, while Estadio Deportivo claim the total cost adds up to €41, of which €36m is paid straight away.

The Andalucians signed the French striker from PSG for €10m in 2013, and had declared they would not let Gamiero depart for less than his €40m release clause. However, a deal was simultaneously struck with Atletico over a deal for Argentine forward Luciano Vietto, who joins on a season-long loan deal with a €20m option to buy.

Sevilla have also announced the signing of Toulose striker Wissam Ben Yedder, pending a medical.

The 25-year-old had also attracted interest from PSG, Lyon and Arsenal but has completed a €9m move to Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan.

Originally of Tunisian descent, Ben Yedder netted 71 goals in 174 appearances for Toulouse, establishing himself as the star player in a struggling side in recent years.

He has agreed a five-year deal at Sevilla.
