RC Lens have announced another contract extension, as centre-back Facundo Medina (23) will extend his stay at the club by another three years – his new contract running until 2026.

Medina joined Lens three years ago from Talleres for a fee of €3.5 million. In recent months, he has established himself as a key player in Franck Haise’s three-man defence, making 18 league appearances and scoring one goal. This contract extension comes just after the club’s announcement of the extension of Wesley Saïd’s contract, also until 2026.

It’s clear that RC Lens are looking to build a strong and competitive team for the future, as they chase european football this season in second-place and the extension of these two key players is a testament to a continuing strategy which is paying off for the club.

General director Arnaud Pouille said that the extension “is symbolic in more ways than one. First of all, his arrival was the result of a collective effort. I remember that many of us were watching videos of Facundo on the night we went up on 30th April 2020,” adding “Facundo is one of those players whose identity fits 100% with the club, through his simplicity, his authenticity, his fierce desire to move forward.”
