Sport designer collaborations are becoming huge targets for sportswear
giants, Nike has worked with Riccardo Tisci and Pedro Lourenço, while
Adidas has been collaborating with Rick Owens, Raf Simons and most recently
Kanye West, and now Nike is adding a new partnership with Japanese designer
label Sacai, founded by Comme des Garcons alumna Chitose Abe.

Launching globally on March 19, the NikeLab x Sacai collection for
women sees Sacai redesigning Nike’s classic models into new silhouettes
aimed at redefining sport styles covering everything from running to
tennis.

The eight-piece collection blends Nike’s iconic sports look with the
designer’s vision of a feminine, modern edge, and features tops, outerwear,
and trousers, as well as a sport skirt and a tech fleece dress. The
collection will also include a totally new version of the Nike Air Max
trainer.

“I’ve always been inspired by classics,” Abe said. “Working with
traditional silhouettes and ideas that often come from utility or
performance-based sportswear, I’m interested in creating new hybrids that
combine different fabrics and shapes to create an unexpected yet wearable
result.”

Sacai was founded in Tokyo in 1998 and has been come renowned for its
signature style defined by fluid reinventions of traditional silhouettes.

NikeLab x Sacai will be available at NikeLab locations in New York,
London, Paris, Milan, Hong Kong, and Shanghai and on nike.com/NikeLab in
North America, Western Europe, Japan and China. Select stores around the
world, like Dover Street Market and Colette, will also carry the trainers
as well.
