Rajan Shukla, the principal secretary, Civil Defence, is among a few bureaucrats, care about people in all senses of the word. He donates blood every three months. Shukla, 56, is an inspiration to other as he has been doing it since 1980 when he first donated the blood at the age of 18. And 38 years later, Shukla who is an IAS officer now has donated blood for a record 112 times.

On Tuesday, he arrived with 130 donors at Lucknow’s Ram Manohar Lohia hospital and RML institute along with his Anil Rajbhar. “We always look for voluntary blood donors and passionate celebrity volunteers are always more than welcome,” said Dr DS Negi, the director of Lohia hospital to HT.
