The highly anticipated live-action remake of Disney’s “Aladdin” hits theaters this Memorial Day Weekend, starring Will Smith as the blue-toned Genie, Mena Massoud as Aladdin and Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine of Agrabah.
Also making a big splash this weekend is Olivia Wilde’s comedy “Booksmart,” starring Kaitlyn Dever and Beanie Feldstein as a couple of high school besties who set out to have fun over the course of a single night.
Finally, horror-thriller “Brightburn” also makes its debut, starring Elizabeth Banks and David Denman as a married couple who is struggling with infertility issues— and decidedly takes in an alien infant son.

“Aladdin” — Will Smith, Naomi Scott, Mena Massoud; directed by Guy Ritchie
Will Smith stars as the blue-skinned Genie in the live-action remake of Disney’s 1992 animation classic. Directed by Guy Ritchie, the story follows a good-hearted thief named Aladdin (Mena Massoud) who is determined to win over the love of his life, Princess Jasmine of Agrabah (Naomi Scott).

See it. The Genie is out of the lamp once again — spreading magic that is immensely delightful, romantic and nostalgic!

“Booksmart” — Kaitlyn Dever, Beanie Feldstein; directed by Olivia Wilde
Olivia Wilde’s feature directorial debut stars Kaitlyn Dever and Beanie Feldstein as a pair of senior high schoolers gone wild over the course of a single night.
The story follows best pals Amy (Dever) and Molly (Feldstein), top-notch, crème de la crème “A” students who suddenly realize that they have missed out on a lot of fun during their high school years. As it turns out, their peers have enjoyed it all and still managed to get into ivy league schools.
What are the two BFFs to do? They set out to make up for the lost time on the eve of their graduation day. Anything goes during their spontaneous night — including booze, sex and pure outlandish fun.
See it. Delightfully introspective, it reaffirms that life is what you make it in the end and that it can be fun along the way.

“Brightburn” — Elizabeth Banks, David Denman; directed by David Yarovesky
What if, out of the blue, an alien infant crash-landed on Earth, and years later he turned out to be a sinister super-boy? Could you possibly prevent his nefarious plots to hurt mankind? This is the premise of “Brightburn,” a horror-thriller with a psycho-superhero twist.
The film stars Elizabeth Banks and David Denman as married couple Tori and Kyle Breyer who are childless and faced with infertility issues. However, fate soon intervenes when a spaceship crashes near their farmhouse in Brightburn, Kansas. In it, the Breyer’s find an alien infant whom they take in as an adopted son and name him Brandon.
Over the years, everything in the Breyer household is normal — that is, until Brandon (Jackson A. Dunn) turns 12 and starts acting out with gleaming red eyes and an uncontrollable urge to hurt people around him. Can Tori and Kyle possibly find a way to save Brandon?
Skip it. The storyline is fascinating, but it lacks conviction and purpose to keep audiences captivated. By the end, it feels like a gore fest gone super wrong.
