SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The Augustana wrestling team competes in its second tournament of the season on Saturday at the Dakota Wesleyan Open in Mitchell, South Dakota at 9 a.m.

Dakota Wesleyan will host the event and it will be the closest the Vikings get to a home event until Dec. 20 when Augustana takes on Nebraska-Kearney and Parkside in the Elmen Center.

The Opponents
The Vikings are one of 26 schools competing this weekend. They will be competing against Benedictine, Briar Cliff, Buena Vista, Cloud County CC, Concordia (Neb.), Concordia-Moorhead, Dakota Wesleyan, Doane, Ellsworth CC, Hastings, Iowa Western CC, Jamestown, UMary, Minnesota West Comm & Tech, Missouri Baptist, Morningside, Nebraska-Kearney, Northern State, Northland Comm & Tech, Northwestern (Iowa), Southwest Minnesota State, St. Cloud State, United States Air Force Academy Prep, Waldorf and York (Neb.).

The Vikings
Last weekend, redshirt freshman Michael Suda, sophomore Dylan Schuck, and junior Ben Kelvington all took home first-place titles in their respective weight classes at the Jimmie Open. Suda took home the 125-pound title, Schuck went 5-0 to capture the 165-pound title, and Kelvington recorded a tech fall and two major decisions en route to the 174-pound title.

The Vikings also had four second-place finishers at the Jimmie Open and had 14 wrestlers place in the top five on the day.

Wrestler To Watch
Steven Hajas is coming off of a 2018-19 campaign in which he wrestled unattached as a redshirt. Hajas went 27-9 last season and recorded 13 falls and four major decisions while he was unattached.

In his first event for Augustana, Hajas went 4-1 at the Jimmie Open and recorded four falls on the day en route to earning 18 team points and placing fifth at 285 pounds.

One Last Thing
Saturday will be the second of five open tournaments that the Vikings compete in this season. Augustana will compete in its first dual next week on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at Arizona State.
