WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle is now retired from active competition, but WWE clearly wants to keep the former world champion around. It has been confirmed that Angle has been pulled from the WrestleCade event set to take place over Thanksgiving weekend later this year. Event creator Tracey Meyers said that the reason WWE gave for removing the Olympic gold medalist from the lineup is because WrestleCade is “associated with AEW.” This comes right after WWE pulled Angle and The Undertaker from Starrcast last month, which is an event that just so happens to coincide with AEW’s Double or Nothing event. Angle did tell his fans that he will be staying with WWE in a backstage capacity a couple of weeks ago.

It was confirmed back in April that Dustin Rhodes (aka Goldust) had left WWE and will be coming to All Elite Wrestling for the Double or Nothing event later this month. Rhodes will be taking on his brother Cody in what is said to be a very personal match for both competitors. During an interview with The Horn’s Stew Myrick and Justin Simmons of “Sports Guys Talking Wrestling,” Rhodes talked about his upcoming match with Cody and what is means to him. He said that he wanted the two of them to compete at WrestleMania while they were both still in WWE. Instead, the match took place at Fastlane 2015, which Rhodes said was not their best work. However, he is promising that the two of them will do better at Double or Nothing.
“This kind of jumped in my lap and I had to take it because it’s like were weren’t allowed to have that WrestleMania moment that I fought for for years and years and they just would not grant me that match. We ended up having that Fastlane match, which was one of the worst matches I think I’ve ever been involved with. It just did not click and that was partially my fault because I thought the match would be a little bit better so I took it in a direction that I thought was right and I made the wrong decision of taking it in that direction, and it needed to be a different direction. Anyways, the match happened. It wasn’t what I wanted, which was that WrestleMania moment with my brother.” Rhodes said.
As seen during Impact Wrestling’s Rebellion pay-per-view this past weekend, a new world champion was finally crowned. Brian Cage defeated Johnny Impact to win the Impact World Championship for the first time in his career. Unfortunately for him, he was injured during the match and was taken to an emergency room. It has since been reported by Wrestling Inc. that Cage has been pulled from Impact’s upcoming set of television tapings set for this weekend in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Cage later commented that he would likely miss some in-ring time, but he said that his injury did not appear to be too serious. As of right now, Cage is still the champ, but be sure to stay tuned in the event that the title is vacated due to injury.
