SUNDAY NEWS UPDATE
Our weekend Observer radio show is up.
Last night’s UFC show was 16th most searched for item on the Internet with 50,000 searches, which is somewhat low considering the Yair Rodriguez finish on Chan Sung Jung in a fight he was going to lose by decision with one second left was probably the greatest finish in UFC history.
Cody will be undergoing an MRI tomorrow after his knee popped when he was pivoting on the Friday night show in Buffalo. He was able to work his match but the pop was loud and it was worse yesterday. He’s off today’s show in Toronto where he was to defend the IWGP U.S. title against Baretta.
Joey Ryan will also be undergoing an MRI tomorrow regarding a possible pec tear which would have happened on Wednesday. He had an X-ray on Friday and the doctor believed the pec was torn based on scar tissue, and it was all black and blue like a tear.
An update on Saturday’s NXT Takeover show from Los Angeles. The show right now is scheduled for only four matches instead of the usual five because of the length of time all of the matches are expected to get, particularly the War Games match, plus they are doing a two of three fall women’s title match with Shayna Baszler vs. Kairi Sane. The Kassius Ohno vs. Matt Riddle match will still take place in Los Angeles, but it will be taped before Takeover starts and will air on the weekly TV show probably on 11/21 if not a later date. They are still taping one television show before Takeover even though they are also doing a television taping on 11/15 in San Jose.

Kathy Burke, a well-known British actress was at the show taking photos with the talent.

IPW announced Nick Aldis defending his NWA title at their 12/23 show in Maidstone, UK. Tickets are available right now and it is the company’s biggest show of the year, called Undisputed II.

Lester Quarles, who was a top heel manager in Roller Games in the 70s with the Texas Outlaws and Canadian Braves is battling colon cancer and undergoing chemotherapy treatments. Sally Vega and Larry Lewis have been visiting him at his rehab center in Las Vegas. Lewis told people to ask for prayers for him. Quarles also skated in the 60s and was the younger brother of DeWitt Quarles, a Roller Derby star in the early 60s during the heyday of the Bay Bombers.
