It was announced just 30 minutes prior to the start of the post-SummerSlam edition of RAW on Monday night that Finn Balor will be relinquishing the WWE Universal Championship due to an injury he suffered at SummerSlam.
Balor was injured during the spot where Rollins power bombed him into the barricade outside the ring, and apparently the injury is bad enough that he won’t be able to compete for a long enough time that WWE found it necessary to get the title off of him tonight.
Sasha Banks was in a similar situation, as WWE had her lose the Women’s Championship at SummerSlam last night due to an injury she was dealing with.
