As previously reported, the “official” attendance numbers for this month’s WWE Backlash pay-per-view, as announced to the fans inside the Prudential Center in Newark, was 14,724. Those numbers are almost always completely meaningless, as WWE notoriously inflates their attendance figures for everything.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter the real figure was around 12,000, which was reportedly close to a sellout, but there were definitely still plenty of tickets available. Considering the New York/New Jersey market and it being the first “co-branded” pay-per-view following WrestleMania, it has to be disappointing for the company that the show didn’t legitimately sell-out in advance. For the record, that’s about a 19% discrepancy for those curious.
