Speaking to France Bleu, Ligue 1 side Reims’ President Jean-Pierre Caillot explained the rather unique Saturday night that the club’s Ivorian full-back Ghislain Konan experienced.
“It is to be honest quite funny and deserves to be retold. Because at the moment that Konan receives the red card, he heads into the dressing room, gets his mobile phone out, and learns at that moment that his wife has given birth and he has become a father. He probably would’ve wanted to come off the pitch to check in for news anyway!”
The 24-year-old was sent off in the 68th minute during Reims’ 1-0 victory in Ligue 1 on Saturday night against Brest.
